Excellent! The food, the decor, and the service. We tried the bread, pan con ibérico, ensalada con tomate, and the savory Dutch baby. All were just awesome. The food is on the pricier side but the quality of the ingredients justify the cost. A nice treat!
I've been here once before and it was amazing, so I was excited to try it out again. Valentina is a Spanish cuisine tapas-style restaurant, with a casual/elegant atmosphere that makes me feel like I'm back in Europe (if a restaurant makes me feel like I'm in Europe then I call that a job well done). The food was mostly great, although I was a bit disappointed at the pricing given the tapas portions - I know, tapas restaurants can be expensive, but I thought the $30 market sashimi was milking it honestly. I thought it would at least come out with a few more pieces, and while it was good it wasn't like.. the best sashimi I've ever had. If it was, maybe the price would satisfy me more. The tomato salad was good, I always love seeing heirloom tomatoes on the menu, but in all honesty I've made better ones at home. It tasted very fresh but could have done with a bit more flavor to make it more interesting. The steak & potatoes however, was the best part of the meal. Cooked perfectly as medium rare, with a buttery sauce jam-packed with well-paired flavors (Unfortunately I didn't get a photo, I was too hungry for my camera to eat first). I think this maybe wasn't the luckiest array of food we had (while still very scrumptious), I kind of wish we went with other options from the tapas menu such as the mussels and albondigas. I know the menu is always changing, so next time I come back I'll try to switch it up and try some different dishes. The service was good, it was a bit busy but not too bad as far as timing on when the dishes came out, and I always try to be understanding when I see it's a busy night. Oh, the house wine was also great! It was a slightly carbonated rose, and honestly I kinda wanna walk over and ask what the name was since I didn't get a chance to last night lol. All in all I'm glad Valentina is here in Leucadia so I can return and try more things in the future!
Pros - Ordered the Arroz del Senyoret (Gentleman's Rice) and it was OUTSTANDING. Think of paella, but made for a single serving. The seafood was really well cooked and tender. Rice crust provided a wonderful texture without being burnt. - Mojito was tasty - My server Jessica was attentive and pleasant without hovering. Con - Seating at the bar was REALLY tight. I'm only 5'6" and felt cramped.
We love Mediterranean food and sharing so we can try a greater variety of food. This restaurant is clean, cozy and airy. Staff is friendly and courteous. Food was delicious and brought to the table fast. We enjoyed every bite! We had mussels in wine sauce, shrimp in garlic sauce, smashed artichokes, tomato salad, patatas bravas, lamb meatballs and wienerschnitzel.
Sat at the bar on Friday night with a girlfriend. We were well taken care of by David, attentive and friendly. My friend got the Aperol Spritz and I got a N/A IPA beer. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of options for non alcoholic drinks. We shared the sashimi, Steak Tiradito, Patatas Bravas, Pan Tomate, and finished with the cake. Everything was delicious and came out quickly. The patatas bravas were my favorite- a must order. Bar stools were definitely not made for a long visit, I can't wait to come back and relax at a table with a bottle of wine.
Adorable little gem of a restaurant. Went here for Saturday brunch with a girlfriend. The service was wonderful. Attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly. Server enjoyed her job and she was good at it. The food was lovely. Seemed to have French and Spanish influences, and the wine menu was on point. Only thing I wouldnt recommend is their pre-batched cocktails, which honestly are more than likely never great. They were extremely sweet and lacked the personality of a drink made by a bartender. The wine menu is extensive enough you won't miss the cocktails. Ambiance was adorable. Indoor and covered patio seating was lovely for a beautiful afternoon. Overall if you're looking for a spot in Encinitas with its own vibe off the corporate crap path this place is great! Will be back
